For the past year or so, I’ve been working as a designer on the Android team at Hostelworld. We’re a small team of product managers and developers (and me!), and we regularly liaise with stakeholders from other teams within the company. Lately, I’ve become obsessed with material design, having spent the past few months poring over the specs every day while sketching, iterating and iterating and prototyping. Something about the process of product design really suits me—I love refining relentlessly (I never get bored of it!), gradually improving flows and visuals, and the thrill of positive user feedback. We’re very close to a major release—featuring all of the material goodness I’ve been experimenting with—so I can’t show more than a few screens right now. But we have some really exciting features in the works (I’ll publish a case study once we launch).
